Capstone - Essay Example As needs be, the organizationââ¬â¢s statement of purpose likewise tends to the foundation of prosperous and valuable associations with both inner and outside gatherings that are related with the exercises of the business, for example, its workers, providers and different accomplices (FedEx Corporation 2013a). Not exclusively does the statement of purpose of the organization portray the organizationââ¬â¢s duty towards its essential partners yet it likewise gives a guide to the administration and the workers with respect to how FedEx Corporation expects to direct its business exercises. As demonstrated by the detailing of the organizationââ¬â¢s statement of purpose, the vision explanation and statement of purpose of an organization regularly speak to messages or implications that are very much the same while in different situations; the vision articulation depicts a companyââ¬â¢s desires or what it would like to accomplish later on (Secord 2003). As indicated by FedEx Corpo ration (2013a) the association expects to serve its clients in the most ideal way by distinguishing the elite necessities of each market portion. The nearness of this condition in the organizationââ¬â¢s statement of purpose has been the driver of FedEx Corporationââ¬â¢s effective support of its worldwide demographic which showcases fluctuating requirements. For instance, the inception of takeovers in nations, for example, Brazil, Mexico and India in the ongoing years has been incited by the organizationââ¬â¢s devotion to ââ¬Å"accommodate advancing client needsâ⬠(FedEx Corporation 2012). 2. Break down the five (5) powers of rivalry to decide how they sway the organization. Porterââ¬â¢s Five Forces model works as a compelling and far reaching system for distinguishing, breaking down and assessing the potential chances and dangers to an organization which are presented by different serious powers inside the business (Hill and Jones 2007). Based on this comprehension , the system traces five key regions of rivalry that assume a principal job in the detailing and execution of techniques to viably address the laid out dangers and effectively benefit from circumstances. Dealing Power of Suppliers The idea of FedEx Corporationââ¬â¢s exercises and the size of its tasks requests normal collaboration with a few providers that are situated over the globe. The companyââ¬â¢s providers are recognized as fuel providers, makers of delivery materials and plane producers (Berger 2011). Berger (2011) states that prevailing fuel providers order solid bartering control over the association due to the inaccessibility of substitutes which incredibly confines the organizationââ¬â¢s capacity to take part in fruitful arrangements so as to bring down working costs. Thus, the airplane fabricating industry shows an oligopolistic circumstance with Boeing and Airbus being the essential providers of airplanes which loans critical bartering capacity to the producers (Berger 2011). As opposed to this perception, Berger (2011) recognizes that makers of delivery materials show just restricted haggling power in light of the fact that FedEx Corporation has the alternative of picking its assigned providers among a few organizations in a market that is exceptionally serious. Bartering Power of Buyers Hill and Jones (2007) remark that dealing intensity of purchasers is liable to change according to the adjustments in the outside condition. On account of FedEx Corpora

Self-Compassion Makes Life More Manageable
Self-Compassion Makes Life More Manageable Happiness Print Self-Compassion Makes Life More Manageable By Sherri Gordon facebook twitter Sherri Gordon is a published author and a bullying prevention expert. Learn about our editorial policy Sherri Gordon Updated on June 25, 2019 iStockphoto More in Self-Improvement Happiness Meditation Stress Management Spirituality Holistic Health Inspiration Brain Health Technology Relationships View All When it comes to personal development, our culture often celebrates those who are self-assured or self-confident. But new research suggests that self-compassion might be a better way to approach success and personal development. For instance, self-confidence makes you feel better about your abilities, while self-compassion encourages you to acknowledge your flaws and limitations. And once you acknowledge and accept your flaws, you are more likely to view them objectively and realistically. This, in turn, can lead to positive changes in your life. Understanding Self-Compassion Drawn from Buddhist psychology, self-compassion is not the same as self-esteem or self-confidence. Instead of a way of thinking about yourself, it is a way of being or a way of treating yourself. In fact, according to Dr. Kristin Neff, a psychology professor at the University of Texas, self-compassion involves treating yourself just like you would treat your friends or family members even when they fail or screw up. In general, self-compassion involves accepting that you are human and that you make mistakes. It also means you do not dwell on those mistakes or beat yourself up for making them. Dr. Neff was the first person to measure and define self-compassion and offers a number of meditations that can be used to improve your self-compassion skills. For instance, she also offers several self-compassion exercises you can engage in including affectionate breathing and loving-kindness meditation. Primary Components of Self-Compassion When it comes to practicing self-compassion, there are several primary components that are essential to its success. These include being kind to yourself, just like you would be to a friend; being mindful of who you really are, flaws and all; and, allowing yourself the freedom to be imperfect. Here is an overview of the primary components of self-compassion. Self-kindness When you practice self-kindness, you recognize that all people are imperfect and that all people have imperfect lives. And you are kind to yourself when things go wrong instead of being critical. For instance, when something goes wrong, Dr. Neff says your first reaction might be to think this should not be happening. Or, you might think: I shouldnt have this issue come up in my life. Everyone else is living perfectly happy, normal lives. With this type of negative or unkind thinking, you are likely to experience additional suffering because it makes you feel isolated, alone and different from everyone else. But with self-kindness, instead of thinking poor me, you think well everyone fails once in a while. You acknowledge that everyone has issues and struggles because this is what it means to be human. When you start to think like that, it changes the way you view lifes challenges and difficulties. That opens the door for you to grow from the experience. But if you feel like its abnormal or that it shouldnt be happening, then you start to engage in self-blame. Mindfulness Another component of self-compassion is mindfulness. When you are mindful, you have to be willing to face your pain and suffering and acknowledge it. Most people do not want to do that. In fact, they usually want to avoid it. They want to avoid the pain and go straight to problem-solving. But when life throws you a curveball, it is important that you take the time to be mindful of how those struggles or failures make you feel and why they might have happened. When you are able to do that, you are much more likely to grow and learn from the situation. Another thing you need to be mindful of is your inner critic. Self-criticism can be very defeating and often plays on repeat in our minds. But mindfulness allows you to be aware of your shortcomings without passing judgment on yourself. The result is that you will recognize where you need improvement without the pressure of being superhuman. Imperfection Once you can accept that it is unrealistic to expect perfection, it will feel like a huge weight has been lifted from your shoulders. It also helps you to realize that what you are experiencing is normal and human, and you should not feel bad about it. Additionally, recognizing your imperfections can also help you feel more connected to others because you realize that everyone experiences hardships and difficulties. Remember, self-compassion is about being kind to yourself and realizing that humans are imperfect, including you. This also requires acknowledging that it is okay to not be perfect. Your flaws and setbacks should help you understand yourself better, not make you stressed out or feel bad about who you are. Benefits of Self-Compassion Overall, self-compassion involves recognizing the difference between making a bad choice and being a bad person. When you practice self-compassion, you understand that making bad decisions does not automatically make you a bad person. Instead, you recognize that your value and worth is unconditional. In fact, research has consistently shown a positive connection between self-compassion and overall well-being. Additionally, self-compassion provides a sense of self-worth. But not in a narcissistic way like self-confidence can at times. Whats more, people who practice self-compassion also have more social connections, higher emotional intelligence, and greater overall satisfaction with life. They also are more caring, supportive and empathetic. Meanwhile, research shows that people are self-compassionate have less anxiety, depression, and fear of failure. Research also shows that self-compassion can be a motivator causing people to improve on their mistakes, failures or shortcomings because they view them more objectively. A Word From Verywell When it comes to being self-compassionate, the first thing you need to address is that voice in your head that is constantly critiquing you. Many times, that voice is way too critical. For example, you may beat yourself up for every little mistake. To be more self-compassionate, you need to recognize that voice and correct it when it veers off course. That doesnt mean you tell yourself how great you are. Instead, you talk to yourself in a kind, nonjudgmental wayâ"the same way you would encourage a loved one. And when you do, life will get a whole lot more manageable.

Dystopian Fiction Dystopian Novel - 1559 Words
Why is dystopian fiction important? Some may say that it is because of the high-tension environments, the action, or the gripping storylines. While those aspects certainly play a significant role in the continued success of dystopian fiction, being well-written stories is not the only goal. This paper will detail various reasons why dystopian fiction continues to be popular and successful with all audiences, using The Hunger Games, Divergent, The Giver, and Ready Player One as examples. In order to fully understand why dystopian fiction is important, the term dystopia needs to be defined. According to dictionary.com, dystopia is a society characterized by human misery, as squalor, oppression, disease, and overcrowding. Merriam-Webster defines dystopia as an imaginary place where people are unhappy and usually afraid because they are not treated fairly. The Oxford dictionary defines dystopia as an imagined place or state in which everything is unpleasant or bad, typically a totalitari an or environmentally degraded one. These definitions have one thing in commonââ¬âdystopia is bad. And although many aspects of dystopian societies seem like possible future situations, they are generally considered to be fictional outcomes. One cause of the continued success of YA dystopian fiction is how it examines and challenges gender stereotypes and norms. Applied Anthropology Domains of Application Essay
Applied Anthropology is difficult to fully implement into a beingââ¬â¢s existence. When using applied anthropology, many factors must be taken into account such as the Darwin approach, theological approach, or any other specialized field of anthropology. All can have an effect on human culture and relationships, but all have their benefits and harms that can behoove or dismay a human individual in their field of study. The study of humanity is unfortunately as fallible as humanity itself, and to gage what applied anthropology actually isââ¬âwe must understand the harms and benefits of the many different approaches. These opposing viewpoints establish that anthropology is debated and complex, giving a unique outlook to what society understands of what applied anthropology actually is and just how many subcategories there actually are (Borofsky 463ââ¬â480). This adds more detail to an already complex topic. With so many details and complexities, why would anyone want to use these types of studies for humanity? This issue should be recognized and is one of the reasons why applied anthropology can harm society. Applied anthropology tries to convey an umbrella of details and topics under a given studyââ¬âand humans are so individualized that the study not always coincides with the human individualââ¬â¢s thoughts, physicality, or ideals, thus projecting harm to societyââ¬â¢s understanding of anthropology. Reflections theory Introduction In this report I will be comparing two reflective theories, outlining their similarities and differences. I will be choosing the one I believe to be the best in my opinion. This will be the one I will be using in my end of year reflective account. We will write a custom essay sample on Reflections Theory or any similar topic only for you Order Now The two reflective theories I will be looking at are, Johns Model of Structured Reflection and Gibbsââ¬â¢s Reflective Cycle. Theories There are two main differences between the two theories. Johns uses a linear structure, with a beginning and an end. However, Gibbs uses a more cyclic structure and has no defined beginning or end. Johnââ¬â¢s theory is also mainly aimed towards health care and talks about working with patients and their families. Gibbs on the other hand can be aimed more towards students and their experiences. Johns uses the 2 main headings: Looking in and looking out. Under Looking in there are 5 Sub-Headings: Aesthetics, Personal, Ethics, Empirics and Reflexivity. Johns for the most part requires the need to work with a supervisor and as such he calls this a guided reflection. It requires you to write a description of the experience before you begin the reflection, once you have done this it requires you to follow the questions as they come up. One of the advantage of Johns reflective model is that there is a clear Beginning and an end meaning the person looking back on their experience has a clear outline on where to begin and the process used in the reflection. However the issue with the reflexive pattern of knowing is that it will only be relevant for a situation that has been resolved. If your were trying to analyze a situation thatââ¬â¢s was ongoing you would have to incorporate parts of another reflective model to help you. With Johns model of structured reflection you would not have to use all the questions within the model, but you could also use the questions a number of times if appropriate. Gibbs Reflective Model is easier to be used by students as it talks about getting a clear understanding the situations. It uses the six main Headings: Description, Feelings, Evaluation, Analysis, Conclusion and Action Plan. It uses these heading to gain a clear understanding of what went on, what was the experience like for the person, how they interpreted the situation, what they could have done and what they would do again if the situation arose again. Because there is no defined structure and no definite beginning or end, there is the advantage that if the person going through the reflection of their experience and they look back on it they can add more information to each section as and when they think of it, so they can go back or forward to one of the headings and add in the information into the specific field. For example if they feel they need to talk about their feeling first they can do that or if they feel they need to evaluate the situation or talk about what they would do again, and add their input to it, as they can go through the cycle as many times as they need to get all the information down. Gibbs also talks about what would we do different if the situation arose again. They both put great emphasis on the feelings and the emotions of the person throughout the reflection process. They both talk about what happened and try to make sense of the situation. They both also talk about Conclusion To conclude the theory that I will be choosing for my reflective practice at the end of year is, Gibbs Reflective Cycle. I have chosen this reflective model for a number of reasons. I believe that Gibbs reflective cycle is more aimed towards Student whereas Johns is aimed more towards health care and talks about working with patients and their families. Gibbs reflective model is also easier to interpret and I believe it to be easier to use to analyze any given situation with the main headings it uses to gain information about the situation the feelings of the person and the experience the person underwent during any given situation. I believe it is easier to follow than Johns model of structured reflection. Gibbs reflective cycle does not require the need of a supervisor to aid the reflection whereas; Johnââ¬â¢s model talks about have one present to go through the reflection process. I will be using Gibbs Reflective cycle as I feel that it is more relevant to myself and it is clearer to follow and would be easier to use for my reflection process. References (2012) REFLECTION. To make marketing easy, Peapod has partnered with big companies in the food industry in the respective state of its operation. For instance, in Chicago, it has formed a partnership with Jewel Food Stores and Randallââ¬â¢s in Texas. Peapod is the leading e-retailer in the grocery industry and this has been made possible by the partnerships it formed with Royal Ahold, an international food company based in Netherlands (Peapod, 2010). Today, 75% of Peapodââ¬â¢s services are targeted to the single parents and families with young children (Peapod-O nline Grocery Shopping 2005). These are the people who are believed to have less time to go to the grocery stores and would prefer shopping from their houses. However, this is a very narrow market considering the growth in the online market. In addition, it has only been able to expand on specific geographical areas especially along the East coast. I believe Peapod target market will change with time when it starts to put other things into consideration. Apart from time issues, other factors that can be considered in designing the target market are physical constraints such as inability of the elderly to jump from one vehicle to the other while going to the grocery stores. Just like other on-line groceries, Peapod has been experiencing the problem of customers questioning the quality and freshness of its products. To curb this problem, the company has introduced a delivery system called Stay Fresh that keeps all products at optimal temperatures before they are delivered to customers .Advertising Looking for report on communications media? Another problem that is experienced by the company is that many customers are not quick to make orders for products they cannot see. Although the website may contain much information on the nutritional value of the products, the pictures displayed on the website do not offer a good basis for customers to make comparisons (Bretagne, 2010). Other people argue that purchasing over the internet is more expensive than face-to-face purchases. Peapod Company has introduced a marketing strategy that allows customers to use promotional code. This ensures that customers are convinced about the companyââ¬â¢s products and they are also able to save money (Riedman, 1997). Peapod has been able to uti lize its warehouse facilities to customize its products. To do this, Peapod uses centralized distribution with a warehouse and a wareroom. Deliveries are made on the day following an order request using an intact supply chain. This has allowed the company to utilize the use of the storeââ¬â¢s assets in opening new markets which are later transitioned into warehouses as the business expands its operations. The use of Ahold stores has assisted the company in the provision of quality products and services, controlling its inventory, and minimizing out-of-stocks (Peapod, 2010). One of the major competitors that are likely to enter the online grocery shopping market is Wal-Mart stores. This is the largest retailer in the world a position which it has earned through its marketing approach including low priced products, just-in time delivery, and its organizational behavior. Wal-Martââ¬â¢s superior marketing strategy complements its mission statement and has seen its product being we ll positioned in the market. The companyââ¬â¢s reputable brand name is a source of competitive advantage as it lures customer traffic. There is a likelihood of the company going online in marketing of its groceries and if this happens, it will be a major threat to Peapod considering its market position. Another competitor likely to enter the market is Publix Super market. This is a supermarket based in Florida. It was ranked among the best one hundred international companies and itââ¬â¢s among the largest companies in America. Publix is a food retailer that is privately owned although not available to a large population.Advertising We will write a custom report sample on Peapod Groceries specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More This company has not yet gone on-line but with the current trend in technology and the increased reliance on the internet, it poses as a major competitor for Peapod for the reason that soon it may decide to market its groceries over the internet. Peapod uses a two way communication system which helps in increasing its sales volume as well as its development. It uses external advertising agents such as Kraft Foods and Frito-lay. About 75% of its customers are able to access its services over the website while the rest use dial-up method to access the services (Riedman, 1997). One of its selling tools includes pre-testing of its content before they are placed on the web. This ensures that customers are not deceived but get the right information. Today, about 15 million households shop at Peapod online market in spite of all the competitors present in the online market. To ensure that it is able to retain its customers, it analyses customersââ¬â¢ shopping behavior through promotions which forms part of its business model. Having looked at the history and current situation of Peapod, I conclude that peapod has a promising future. In five years to come, the company will have extended int o other international markets. It would be better if the company considers expanding into the developing countries since most of the large companies have not yet explored these markets. However, the company has to develop new marketing strategies that will help in beating the present competition. One of such strategies would be low cost products and services that will see the company being ranked as the largest online retailer in marketing of groceries ten years from now.
